Handmade Soaps
These handmade soaps are lovingly infused with herbs, essential oils and blended base oils. Many of these handmade bars are brightly colored with natural clays and may include subtle traces of the flowers used during the soap making process. This process is also the reason why no two batches of handmade soap will look exactly the same. Making soap by hand is a tedious and time consuming art form that simply cannot be rushed or mass produced without sacrificing quality.
When we call a handmade soap "All Natural" we mean it. With ingredients that include shea butter, avocado oil, olive oil and palm oil it's easy to see why. You'll find no synthetic additives, preservatives or bulk fillers here because they are unnecessary and provide no benefits to the natural metabolism of the skin.
Treat your body and senses to an indulgent spa experience in the comfort of your own home. The decadence of rich, creamy lather that moisturizes and rejuvenates your body while delicate aromas revitalize your senses. Allow your stresses and worries to be washed away as you discover what it means to be truly Naturally Skintastic.

Handmade Soap Frequently Asked Questions
What is soap and how is it made?
There are two main elements in all soap; oil (acid) and an alkaline chemical (base). The result of the reaction between these two is what is known as soap. A particular soap's characteristics are dependent on the blended ratios between these two components.
What process is used to make handmade soaps and what are the benefits?
Our handmade soaps are created using a "cold process". All the ingredients required to make the soap are mixed together, cut into individual bars and then left to sit and dry. Although this is a simplified explanation of the actual procedure, it is basically the same for all handmade soap making. The "cold process" method of soap making does not require the application of extreme temperatures, which can destroy some natural nutrients found in the oils. This allows the soap to provide maximum benefits to the skin. The downside of using this method is that much more time is required to "cure" the soap so it becomes mellow enough for use.
Why are so many "handmade soaps" on the market so expensive?
It's all about the superior quality of the ingredients used in handmade soaps compared to most commercial soaps. Some soap makers also charge according to the amount of time put into crafting and decorating the soap.
What is the difference between a "fragrance" and an "essential oil?
Fragrance oils and essential oils are like cousins. Fragrance oils are synthetic, similar to perfumes. Some fragrance oils have natural elements while others (most fragrances) are completely synthetic. So, when you see the term "fragrance" in reference to soap, it is speaking of a synthetic fragrance, not natural essential oils. This doesn't mean that the fragrance is unhealthy, it simply means that rather than extracting the oil from a plant, chemists created the chemical in a lab.
Are fragrances natural? Can soaps that contain fragrance oils be considered natural?
Many companies selling handmade soap are calling their soaps "natural", and even "all natural", when fragrances are used in their products. Fragrances are not natural. Essential oils, however, are natural. When you see "fragrance" on the ingredient list, that soap is not natural and should not claim to be. This is why we try to clearly mark what soaps are "all natural" to avoid as much confusion as possible.
Are all essential oils extracted the same way? Are they all equally expensive?
The essential oil extraction process is determined by the difficulty of extraction (steam, pressed, etc.) and the price is also determined by these factors, as well as the commercial demand for the product. Many oils can be steam extracted, which is the cheapest method, but some have such a "fragile" character that other expensive methods must be used. In either case, thousands of pounds of plants are used in making a small amount of essential oil, which can make essential oil quite expensive. However, if you take oranges, for example: the essential oil comes from the peel. Therefore, since orange peels aren't used in the making of orange juice, it would be reasonable to imagine that there is a greater abundance of orange peels than, for example, roses.
What are all those "chemically sounding" ingredients listed on the box of most commercial soaps?
Here is a list of common chemical ingredient names found in soaps and their definitions:
Sodium Tallowate - Saponified Beef Tallow (fat)
Sodium Cocoate - Saponified Coconut Oil
Sodium Palmate - Saponified Palm Oil
Sodium Palm Kernelate - Saponified Palm Kernel Oil
Sodium Oleate - Saponified Olive Oil
Sodium Castorate - Saponified Castor Oil
Stearic Acid - Plant or animal derived- usually used for hardening soap or thickening agent.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine - Derived from coconut oil and used as a thicker and surfactant.
Sodium Chloride - Salt, usually added to extract glycerine from the soap (which is then sold).
Glycerine - Naturally occurring in the soap process. Usually listed as an ingredient when technical ingredients are listed because it is present. Often times it is extracted from the soap when soap is "salted". Glycerine is usually not listed when technical terms are not used (our soaps do not list glycerine, though it is present).
Petrolatum- Derived from petroleum and often used in jellies.
Pentasodium Pentetate - Water softener and fragrance protector.
Tetrasodium Etidronate - Water softener.
Titanium Dioxide- A common naturally derived white pigment.
